Election Results: Telangana Loksabha by-polls

TRS retained Karimnagar and Hanamkonda Loksabha segments while TDP and Congress won in Warangal and Adilabad segments respectively. This is a major setback for TRS as its president K. Chandrasekhar Rao who won in Karimnagar by a narrow margin in a tightly held contest. Congress party performance is credible as it won in one seat and stood second in the remaining segments.

Loksabha by-poll results:

1. Karimnagar: TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao won over Congress candidate Jeevan Reddy by a narrow margin of over 15,000 votes. He won this seat in 2006 by 2 lakh votes. This is a big setback for Telangana Rashtra Samithi. TDP candidate L. Ramana is in third place.

2. Hanamkonda: TRS candidate Vinod kumar won this constituency over Congress candidate Konda Surekha by a big margin of over 55,000 votes. He retained this seat despite anti-TRS wave in Warangal district.

3. Warangal: TDP candidate Dayakar Rao made history by winning this segment by a narrow margin of over 3,000 votes despite late surge by Congress and TRS. YSR spent five days in this segment to change the equations but he succeeded in reducing the margin of victory.

4. Adilabad: Congress candidate Indrakaran Reddy won by over 58,000 votes over TDP candidate Venugopala Chari. TRS sitting MP stood in third place.

TRS won in 2 seats and stood third in other 2 days. It lost one seat to Congress and another to Telugu Desam Party. Telugu Desam victory in Warangal is more significant as Warangal is the heart of Telangana movement. Jeevan Reddy narrowly lost in Karimnagar despite leading in the initial rounds of counting. But it is a “moral victory” for Congress in Karimnagar.
