Congress party: Caste and regional politics

Congress Party is taking many strategic steps to nullify Jagan Mohan Reddy effect in Seemandhra region. Congress decided to shed Reddy community and embrace Kapus and SCs. It also decided to encourage Seemandhra leaders who have the capabilities to take on Jagan Mohan Reddy. It even decided to postpone the decision on crucial Telangana issue to regain strength in Seemandhra region. AICC in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad is once again showing his exceptional strategical talents.

If you observe the table, Telangana leaders got almost 50% of posts but most of them are insignificant ones. But, Congress gave crucial posts to Kamma, Reddy and BCs. Scheduled Castes once again got deputy posts only. 35-40% of Congress MLAs are Reddys – that’s why it gave CM and Chief whip posts to Reddys.

Congress Party may go to 2014 Assembly polls by projecting a Kapu leader for CM post. It decided to gradually shed Reddys and embrace Kapus. According to intelligence reports, 90% of Reddy community is with Jagan Mohan Reddy. It is planning to brand YSR Congress as “Reddy Congress”. If Congress succeeds in its branding exercise, YSR Congress will collapse just like Reddy Congress (1978 Assembly elections). Scheduled Caste (SC) voters will decide the fate of Congress and YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh. In 1978 polls, SC voters embraced Indira Congress. How Jagan Mohan Reddy will counter these strategic movies by wily Congress?
