Kavali derived its name from Kanakapatnam. Kavali Assembly constituency underwent drastic changes due to de-limitation exercise which raised Telugu Desam hopes on the Congress bastion. Before de-limitation, Kavali assembly segment used to be a Congress Party stronghold. But, Bogole and Dagadarthi were added to Kavali after de-limitation exercise which will definitely improve Telugu Desam hopes. Kaligiri, Kondapuram and Jaladanki were added to Udayagiri assembly segment.
