Kandukur Assembly

In Kandukur, it is a contest between Reddys and Kammas. It is a contest between Manugunta and Divi families. Nalamothu Chenchurama Naidu won from Kandukur for 2 consecutive times. Except those 10 years, rest of the period has been in the grip of Manugunta and Divi families. Manugunta Adinarayana Reddy created sensation by winning in 1983 and 1985 when whole state was in the grip of NTR especially coastal districts.

Kandukur Assembly segment was included in the Nellore Parliament constituency after de-limitation exercise. It was in Ongole before de-limitation. Prajarajyam party failed to show significant impact. Congress party got 2,237 votes majority in the Kandukur municipality and 1,000 votes majority in Kandukur mandal.

2004 Kandukur Assembly elections results:

Election Result: Congress Party candidate Manugunta Maheedhar Reddy defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate Divi Sivaram by 7,879 votes.
