Live: Assembly speaker and deputy speaker elections

  AP Assembly session will start today at 11 AM to elect Speaker and Deputy Speaker while Legislative Council Chairman will be held at 4 AM. Chakrapani and Nethi Vidyasagar will be elected unanimously for Chiarman and Deputy Chairman posts when Council members meet this evening. Senior Congress MLA J.C. Diwakar Reddy will act as Pro-tem Speaker. Gangadhra Nellore MLA Gummadi Kuthuhalamma may not cast her vote due to ill health.    Speaker election: Congress candidate Nadendla Manohar got 158 votes while TDP candidate K.E. Krishnamurthy got 90 votes.  Deputy Speaker election: Congress candidate Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka got 164 votes while TDP candidate Suddala Devaiah got 88 votes.     TRS, CPI and YSR Congress MLAs decided not to participate in the voting of Speaker election. Congress candidates will easily win the Speaker and Deputy speaker posts. But, TDP succeeds in exposing YSR Congress and TRS parties due to these elections.  Speaker election will be held through open ballot (according to Supreme Court judgement). So, MLAs will be disqualified if they defy official party whip. So, one PRP MLA, 3 TDP MLAs and Jagan group MLAs should vote according to the party whip.  Madhira MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is elected as Deputy Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Assembly.  Assembly Speaker election result:  Telugu Desam Party succeeded in exposing Jagan group MLAs.  Total number of MLAs: 293  Nadendla Manohar (Congress): 158  K.E.
