Kadapa (Cuddapah) municipality was upgraded to Municipal corporation in 2004 and first corporation elections were held in 2005. Kadapa is a stronghold for Congress party and YSR family. If Y.S. Jagan forms a new poitical party, his candidate will easily win from here. Kadapa City underwent mindblowing change during Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy rule from 2004-2009. During YSR rule, Kadapa city saw unbelievable development in education, health, infrastructure, tourism and image.
History: Kadapa became the district headquarter in 1812 (Siddavatam was the headquarter of the district till then). Kadapa became municipality in 1864.
