Result: Congress party corporator, D. Shankar is elected as the first Mayor of Karimnagar city corporation by defeating Telugu Desam party candidate, Gangula Kamalakar by a margin of 15 votes while Mohammad Abbas is elected as deputy Mayor. MIM supported Congress in the Mayor election.
