Must read: Caravan article on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy

YS Jagan Mohan reddy of YSR Congress

Caravan magazine published a wonderful article on Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy (In the name of the father – the will and the way of Jagan Mohan Reddy). Donthi Praveen of Caravan impartially analysed Y.S. Jagan’s political moves and events occurred after YSR death. Highlights of YS Jagan interview:  1. On odarpu yatra: “Two and a half years we have sustained it. Did anyone think 21/2 years ago when I quit the Congress party that I will come this far?” 2. On Congress and TDP: “In these days of political wars, if there was no third party, they would have the ground free for themselves. They have come together to malign the great departed leader, YSR. GOD is watching them from above.” 3. “We are going to create so much history that history will remember us forever. We will sweep the state. GOD will provide us with such numbers that we will sweep the state.” 4. “If I had done according to their instructions, they would have probably elevated me to some central ministry. But, I wanted to keep my word (to visit every family who had given up theie lives for my dad).” 5. “If I were a person to think of a chair, I wouldn’t have left the party for a word –not a little bit of buttering and selling your character gets you to that seat.” 6. Jagan on YSR death: “So many things went wrong on that particular day. It is very difficult to believe it is a coincidence for so many things to go wrong on one particular day. How Telugu Desam Party is crumbling in AP?

Telugu Desam party chandrababu naidu

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was founded by N.T. Rama Rao in 1982 and came to power in 1983. TDP played crucial role in the state and National politics until 2003. Serious policy mistakes by party leadership created dent in the strong vote bank. To understand its glory, see this statistic - TDP first time lost in 60 Assembly constituencies (out of 294) only in 2004 after its formation in 1983.    Telugu Desam is gradually losing vote share in Andhra Pradesh due to lack of visionary and strong leadership. TDP still has the best cadre who are ready to die for party. But, party leadership is rotten with outdated people and it is struggling to inspire this generation. TDP lost the trust of people due to deviation from core principles.   Gradual decline of Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh:   YearSeats ContestedSeats WonVotes% of votesParty president      1983 (Assembly)288 19996.2 lakh 46% N.T.
